The 2023 gardening season has come to an end. It has been a fruitful year with a nice crop of lettuce and Romaine in the spring days. We had beautiful zucchini all summer, what a treat. Our multiple varieties of tomatoes also lasted the entire summer, which we were able to share with many people. Green beans are, always plentiful in filling freezers for the winter.
Disappointments, which we have every year, but this season the sweet corn did not sprout very well and we needed to replant. However, a huge discouragement was the aphids that attacked the cabbage and broccoli, they destroyed them.
We irrigate from an irrigation ditch which seems to be a big source of weed seeds in the garden. I can’t get the weeds cleaned out of the garden. This takes the joy of gardening away.
